Maintain your John Deere 6140R with more than 250 replacement parts for the 6R series. Among them you will find trailer couplings, lighting and electrics.
This page gathers more than 250 John Deere 6140R parts from GRANIT, ROCKINGER, Scharmüller, Sauermann and Walterscheid. They cover the electrics, the lights and everything that connects the tractor to a trailer.
Start with the identification plate, which gives the exact type. Alternators, sensors and switches carry a reference number on the housing, and that is the number to compare with the items on this page. For drawbars and frames, measure the rail width of the frame already fitted. When moving from halogen to LED work lights, look at the plug and bracket of the old lamp first, so the new one goes on without improvising.
If the oil pressure warning comes on while the level is fine, check the plug and wire on the oil pressure switch before suspecting the engine. A damaged wire can trigger a false alarm, and the switch itself is a quick part to change with the engine cold.
If the battery warning light comes on, check the belt and the earth strap before blaming the alternator. When it does need replacing, disconnect the negative battery terminal first, because the charging cable on the alternator is live at all times. Compare the mounting points and the pulley of the old unit with the new one. Some alternators come without a pulley, in which case you move the old pulley across. Tension the belt properly afterwards, as a slipping belt will squeal and undercharge. Start the engine and check that the warning light goes out.
Drawbar frames come in JD green as well, which keeps the back of the tractor looking tidy. Air brake connector heads need a cover on the unused side to keep grit out of the valve.
Other models in the 6R series have their own parts pages: John Deere 6130R, John Deere 6155R, John Deere 6175R, John Deere 6195R, John Deere 6215R and John Deere 6250R. The 6150R and 6125R belong to the series too. The brand page John Deere parts lists every model.
