The John Deere 6900 runs a ZF front axle, and parts for that axle are part of what you will find here. Outer and inner plates sit alongside alternators, cab parts and drawbar frames. In total there are more than 550 John Deere 6900 parts here, from GRANIT, HELLA, ROCKINGER, Wabco and MAHLE.
Axle plates work as a pack, with inner and outer plates stacked alternately. When the pack wears you hear noise on turns, feel jerking, or notice the front axle pulling less than it should. Always replace the whole pack rather than a single plate, since the total thickness sets the clearance. Soak new plates for a while in the same oil that goes into the axle before fitting, so they are saturated and do not start work dry. Seal kits and sealing rings are here to close the axle up again afterwards.
In the cab it is the small things that make a long day easier: gas struts for the door, grab handles for getting in and out, and headlights for road work. A tired gas strut shows itself as a door that will not stay open. Fit the new strut with the rod pointing down so the internal seal stays lubricated and lasts longer.
Alternators keep the battery topped up and micro relays switch the electrical loads. There are also hoses, O-rings, for example for the oil pump, and gaskets such as the one under the oil filler cap. For the back end there are drawbar frames, including ROCKINGER ones, and forced steering parts. Bushes are included too, such as those for the fender.
An alternator tip: if the battery is not charging well, first measure voltage across the battery terminals with the engine running. If it is clearly low, check the belt and the main charging cable before replacing the alternator. A loose or corroded cable lug causes exactly the same symptom.
The type plate on the 6900 shows model and serial number. For the front axle plates you will often find a ZF number on the part itself or in the axle paperwork. Note it down before ordering to avoid mixing up plates that look alike.
The 6900 belongs to the John Deere 6000/6000SE series. From that range, the John Deere 6100 and the John Deere 6506 have their own pages with the parts that suit them, which helps when several tractors from the series work on the same farm. For the full brand, go to John Deere parts.
