This page gathers more than 350 parts for the John Deere 7820. Trailer couplings, lighting and electrics for the 7020 series are quick to find here.
The John Deere 7820 is often hitched to heavy trailers and large implements, and the more than 350 parts on this page reflect that: drawbar frames and forced steering at the rear, thermostats and aircon compressors under the hood, PTO clutch plates and a long run of O-rings, gaskets and seals. Brands are GRANIT, Walterscheid, ROCKINGER, Sauermann and Scharmüller.
A sticking thermostat shows up as a temperature gauge that stays low or creeps up. Always fit a new thermostat together with a fresh regulator housing gasket and bleed the cooling system carefully afterwards, because an air pocket at the sender gives a false reading. For the air conditioning there are compressors in several versions, and for the engine there are sensors such as the oil pressure sender.
At the rear of the 7820 you will find drawbar frames in John Deere green, ball drawbars for the rail, connector heads for the trailer air brakes and pins. There are also forced steering parts, including inner parts for left and right. Forced steering depends on correct setup: after fitting, check that the trailer tracks straight behind the tractor when driving in a straight line, or its tyres will wear fast. Keep the air brake connector heads clean and replace their seals once they crack or leak.
For the PTO clutch there are internal and external plates. The page also lists O-rings, gaskets, seals such as the one for the rear screen hinge, and sealing rings.
If PTO speed drops as soon as a heavy implement really pulls, or you smell burnt oil after a day of mowing, the PTO clutch plates are slipping. Both internal and external plates for the 7820 are on this page. Replace them as a full pack and measure the thickness of the whole pack when you strip it, so you know whether the pressure plate or springs also need attention. Soak new friction plates briefly in clean transmission oil before fitting, then engage the PTO a few times at low engine speed so the plates can bed in gently. For work at dusk there are LED work lights, which make it far easier to watch the implement behind you and to hitch up in the dark.
Use the serial number on the type plate and the reference number on the old part, which is especially useful when matching O-rings and gaskets. The 7820 belongs to the 7020 series, and the two other models each have their own page: John Deere 7720 and John Deere 7920. Running other green tractors as well? Browse John Deere parts.
