With more than 350 parts, the John Deere 8100 is well covered. Lighting, trailer couplings and electrics for the 8000/8000T series are gathered on this page.
The John Deere 8100 from the 8000 series is a tractor many owners keep running for years, and the cooling system is usually the first area to struggle. A fan clutch that no longer grips, a sticking thermostat or an air conditioning compressor that quits. This page carries more than 350 parts for the John Deere 8100, with plenty for cooling and the engine plus cab and trailer parts.
For the cooling side there are fan clutches and thermostats, with gaskets to match. Engine parts include gaskets for the turbocharger oil return line, seals, sealing rings, hand pumps and sensors for engine oil pressure and fuel. There are air conditioning compressors too.
Not sure whether the fan clutch is still working? Shut the engine down after a warm run and give the fan a push by hand. If it keeps spinning for a long time, the clutch is no longer gripping and the radiator is not getting enough air. If it feels stiff, the clutch is probably fine. When you replace the thermostat, always use a new gasket, as the old one has been compressed and will not seal properly again.
The parts come from GRANIT, Wabco, HELLA, ROCKINGER and GRAMMER.
The PTO shaft end piece takes a knock every time you hook up. Check the splines for burrs or distortion and give them a light coat of grease before sliding a driveshaft on. A damaged end piece also chews up the yoke of your driveshaft, so do not leave it too long.
On the air brake connector heads, the rubber ring is the weak point. If air hisses as soon as the trailer is hooked up, replace that seal or the whole head. Keep the flap shut when nothing is coupled so mud cannot settle inside.
Check the type plate to confirm it is an 8100. For seals and sensors, the reference number on the old part is the surest way to match a replacement. If it has become unreadable, measure the part and compare it with the details given for the product.
The other tractors in the same series each have their own page, so you can see what fits model by model: John Deere 8400, John Deere 8300 and John Deere 8200. For every other John Deere, from the 8R to older ranges, go to John Deere parts.
