Trailer couplings, electrics and lighting are a sample of the more than 250 parts for the New Holland TM120, a tractor from the TM Series.
When a TM120 throws up a warning that does not match how the tractor is behaving, a sensor or switch is usually the first suspect. This page has more than 250 New Holland TM120 parts from GRANIT, Scharmüller, ROCKINGER, Cobo and MAHLE, and the electrical side is well covered: transmission oil temperature sensors, oil pressure switches for the Full Power Shift with cable and plug, and relays. Before replacing anything, measure the resistance or switching point and inspect the connector. A pin with green corrosion produces exactly the same fault as a failed sensor.
At the rear you will find automatic drawbars, Piton Fix hitches and height adjustable adapter plates. Check the locking pin on a piton hitch regularly. If it is worn or no longer locks fully home, replace it straight away, because everything you tow depends on it. A height adjustable adapter plate lets you set the hitch to suit the trailer you pull every day, so the drawbar runs as level as possible.
Around the engine there is the exhaust manifold gasket to the turbocharger, seal kits, O-rings, sealing rings and fan clutches. If the fan spins freely by hand with the engine hot, the fan clutch is no longer engaging and the engine will run hot under heavy work. If it stays locked all the time, you will hear the roar and see it in fuel use. With the manifold gasket, always use new nuts and replace any corroded studs, otherwise the joint at the turbo will start blowing again. There are tank caps with ventilation too. A blocked tank vent pulls a vacuum in the tank and the engine starts to stumble under load, which is easy to mistake for a fuel filter problem.
In the cab there are gas struts for the rear window, headlights and air suspended tractor seats, a worthwhile upgrade for anyone spending long days on the TM120.
Start with the type plate and serial number of your TM120. With the old part in your hands, the reference number stamped or printed on it is the surest route. Other tractors in the TM series each have a page of their own:
