Sorting out the lights or the electrics on a John Deere 5095M? More than 200 parts for this 5M series tractor are listed here, trailer couplings among them.
Long days with the work lights on and the air conditioning running put the electrical system of a 5095M to work. This page lists more than 200 parts that fit this John Deere from the 5M series, supplied by GRANIT, HELLA, Walterscheid, Cobo and ROCKINGER.
For the electrics there are changeover relays and micro relays, sensors and work lamps, including oval spotlights, plus headlights sold individually. When a circuit stops working, swap its relay with an identical one from a circuit that still works. If the fault moves with it, you have found the culprit without tracing a single wire. When ordering a new relay, check the number of pins and whether it needs a bracket.
Under the bonnet you will find an air conditioning compressor, V-belt tensioners and an air receiver gasket, along with O-rings, for example for the master brake cylinder, and other seals. A belt that squeals the moment the air conditioning kicks in usually points to a tensioner that has lost its spring. When you fit a new compressor, check that the tensioner still moves smoothly and returns properly. A sticky tensioner will wear out a new belt in no time.
Door gas struts, cab hinges and bonnet plugs keep doors and panels closing properly and staying open when they should. At the back there are ball-type drawbars for the rail system and bushes for the pivot points.
Keep the drawbar ball lightly greased so the towing eye turns smoothly and ball and socket do not grind against each other dry. If the cab door rattles on the road, look at the hinges. A worn hinge pin creates play, and over time that play pulls the door seal out of line, letting in draughts and dust. A new hinge goes on quickly and the door closes tight again. Check the bushes at the pivot points while you are at it, as worn bushes often announce themselves only through rattles.
The type plate confirms you are working on a 5095M. If the old part still carries a reference number, use it to compare, as many sensors and relays look alike but have different connectors.
