Repairing a John Deere 6100? This tractor from the 6000 series has more than 650 matching parts here, led by trailer couplings, lighting and electrics.
A belt that squeals on a cold start, a charge light that will not go out: on a John Deere 6100, a repair often starts at the front of the engine. This page holds more than 650 parts that fit the 6100, and the belt drive with its alternator is a sensible place to begin.
There are several alternators for the 6100, along with eight-rib multi-rib belts that are used on both John Deere and Case IH. If you are swapping the alternator, look at the belt at the same time. A belt with fine cracks across the ribs or glazed sides will slip under load, and then even a new alternator will not charge properly. Check the tensioner pulley while you are there: if it runs rough or has play, replace it too. Count the ribs on the old belt and compare the pulley on the old alternator with the new one before fitting.
For hard starting, test the battery and the earth connection first. If the starter motor really is the culprit, compare the number of teeth and the direction of rotation with the old unit when choosing a replacement.
For the ZF front axle there are inner and outer plates, and for trailer forced steering there are ball rods in several versions. At the rear you will find automatic drawbars, drawbar frames and parts from ROCKINGER and Scharmüller. A tip for the drawbar: keep the jaw and the coupling pin clean and lightly greased, and check the pin for wear at regular intervals. A worn pin causes play and a hard knock every time you pull away with a heavy trailer.
Around the engine and cab there are thermostat gaskets, flywheel seals, O-rings for the tank sender, bushes for the fenders and gas struts for the door. Lighting includes headlights and work lamps, with HELLA among the brands. Air brake connector heads come from Wabco, and GRANIT covers many of the other parts.
The 6100 belongs to the John Deere 6000/6000SE series. Find the reference number on the old part and compare it with the product details, or check which models are listed with the product. Two other tractors from this series have their own page, handy if there is more than one John Deere on the farm: the John Deere 6506 and the John Deere 6900. Every other model is on the John Deere parts page.
