Running a John Deere 8220 from the 8020 series? Pick from more than 200 matching parts here, including trailer couplings, lighting and electrics.
A John Deere 8220 earns its keep on heavy draft work, and that is exactly where it wears: at the rear, in the cooling system and in the cab. You will find more than 200 parts for this tractor on this page, from GRANIT, ROCKINGER, GRAMMER, Walterscheid and HELLA.
Long days call for a decent seat. There are air suspended tractor seats such as the Maximo Professional and seats from GRAMMER. For lighting there are LED work lamps with a broad beam that light up the whole working area. Angle a broad beam lamp slightly downwards. You avoid dazzling anyone and see the ground beside the implement clearly.
For the rear there are ball type drawbars, drawbar frames from ROCKINGER among others, PTO shaft ends and connector heads for trailers with air brakes. If you run implements with forced steering, parts for that system are here too. Grease the ball of a ball type drawbar regularly. A dry ball wears faster and gives a jerky ride. On an air brake connector head, inspect the rubber seal inside. A split seal leaks air, and the trailer reservoirs then fill only slowly.
The cooling system is covered by thermostats and their gaskets. Always renew the gasket and clean both faces thoroughly, as leftover gasket material is the usual cause of a leaking thermostat housing. For the belt drive there is a V-belt tensioner. When you change the alternator, spin the tensioner pulley by hand. If the bearing feels rough or makes noise, replace it at the same time.
Elsewhere on the engine you will find an alternator, engine sensors, seals and sealing rings, some made for the John Deere 7R, 8R and 8000 series, and a gasket for the turbocharger oil return line.
Check the type plate first to make sure it is an 8220. Seals and sealing rings are listed for several John Deere models, so the number on the part you removed is the best check against the reference number shown with the product. For drawbar frames, measure the rail width of the frame now fitted.
The 8220 belongs to the 8020 series along with the John Deere 8320, the John Deere 8420 and the John Deere 8520. Each has its own page, so you can order per machine. The overview at John Deere parts leads you to every other model from the brand.
