Deutz-Fahr 5100 TTV parts: hitching, fuel and charging

Questions about a 5100 TTV tend to come from two ends of the tractor. At the back it is about hitching up. At the front it is about fuel, air and charging. The more than 50 parts for this model fall neatly into those two groups and come from GRANIT, Walterscheid, Sauermann, HELLA and GRAMMER.

At the rear

Drawbars with a ball, ball hitches, top drawbars and a Piton Fix cover coupling. Fender brackets and fender springs belong at the back too, along with LED tail lights and rear indicators. If you go for a ball hitch, make sure the ball suits the drawbar of your trailer, and keep it lightly greased. A dry ball wears faster and creaks through every turn.

The Piton Fix works differently. A fixed pin passes through the drawbar eye and is then locked. If you switch between ball and piton, check that the drawbar of each trailer suits the system. A top drawbar sits higher in the rail for trailers whose drawbar does not reach the lower coupling point.

Fuel and air supply

Feed pumps and a rail pressure sensor kit handle the fuel side, with radiator hoses and air hoses to the intercooler on the cooling and intake side. With a common rail system, cleanliness comes first. Clean the area around the feed pump and sensor before loosening anything, and cap open connections straight away. Even tiny specks of dirt can damage injectors and the high pressure pump. After a replacement, bleed the system according to the workshop procedure before starting the engine.

Belt drive and charging

Alternators and V-belt tensioners keep the electrics charged, and an engine oil filter covers routine servicing. A tensioner that rattles or moves in jerks often takes the alternator down with it. When fitting a new alternator, check the tensioner and belt as well, otherwise the charging voltage will keep fluctuating.

Change the engine oil filter at every oil change. Smear the rubber ring of the new filter with a little clean oil and tighten it by hand only. Done up with pliers, it will be a fight to remove next time.

Fitting the right part to your 5100 TTV

The type plate identifies the tractor as a 5100 TTV from Series 5 TTV. For engine parts, the number on the component you remove is the safest comparison with the reference number shown with the product. For drawbars and the Piton Fix, measure the rail and pin on your own tractor.

Older Deutz-Fahr ranges and other models in the 5 series each have their own page, all reachable through Deutz-Fahr parts.
