More than 200 parts fit the Deutz-Fahr Agrotron 85 MK3. They are listed here by group, with lighting, trailer couplings and electrics among them.
When a Deutz-Fahr Agrotron 85 MK3 starts weeping oil around the valve cover or the front cover, fresh gaskets now save a bigger mess later. For the engine in this tractor there are cylinder head gaskets, valve cover gaskets and a front cover gasket, with VICTOR REINZ and Elring among the makers. In all, more than 200 parts fit the Agrotron 85 MK3, and they go well beyond the engine bay.
Most repeat leaks at the valve cover are caused during tightening. Clean the cover and the head face until both are dry and clean, lay the new gasket in without sealant unless the maker asks for it, and bring the bolts down in a cross pattern in small steps. Overtightening distorts the cover and a new gasket will leak just like the old one. For a head gasket, follow the tightening sequence in the workshop manual and check the head for flatness first.
If the steering feels vague, have someone rock the wheel from side to side while you hold each ball joint. A joint that knocks or moves before the wheel follows is worn. Ideally replace the joints on the same rod together, secure the nut with a new split pin and have the toe-in reset afterwards, or the front tyres will wear unevenly.
Check the type plate to be sure it is an Agrotron 85 MK3, as the models in this range look alike from the outside. For gaskets the engine type is what counts, and it is worth reading the plate on the engine block as well. For ball joints, switches and lamps, compare the number on the part you removed. Clean it first, since stamped numbers disappear quickly under dirt and oil.
The larger models in the MK3 line each have their own page with the parts for that model alone:
