With more than 300 matching parts you can maintain the Deutz-Fahr DX 4.30 yourself. Electrics, trailer couplings and lighting for the DX 4 series are all here.
Oil at the front of the engine, a slipping clutch or an alternator that has stopped charging are the usual reasons a DX 4.30 ends up in the workshop. This page lists more than 300 replacement parts for the Deutz-Fahr DX 4.30, made by GRANIT and by brands such as HELLA, LUK, MAHLE and ROCKINGER.
For the engine there are crankshaft seals, exhaust gaskets, O-rings and repair sets for the feed pump, as well as a double pump.
Drive a new crankshaft seal in square with a suitable drift or a piece of tube, never with single taps on the edge. Check the shaft first. If the old lip has worn a groove, set the new seal slightly deeper or shallower so the lip runs on a clean surface. After rebuilding the feed pump, bleed the fuel system before you try to start. Work the hand primer until clean fuel with no air bubbles comes out at the bleed screw.
For the clutch there are complete clutch kits and separate thrust bearings. If you are splitting the DX 4.30 anyway, always replace the thrust bearing too. It adds little work while the tractor is apart, and a squealing bearing shortly after a new clutch is a waste of all that effort. While the lift housing is open, the lift shaft sealing rings are easy to reach as well.
On the electrical side you will find alternators, starter motors and push button switches, for example for the work lights. For the cab there are tractor seats, door locks and gas struts for doors and windows, and at the rear a drawbar.
If the starter turns slowly, measure the battery voltage while cranking and clean the earth strap and terminals before fitting a new starter motor. A poor earth connection looks just like a worn starter. If the cab door is stiff to close, try a dry lubricant on the door lock before you replace it.
The type plate confirms you are working on a DX 4.30 from the DX 4 series. Because parts on older tractors have often been swapped over the years, the old part itself is your most dependable source. Look for the reference number on the alternator or starter body, count the pinion teeth on a starter, and compare the dimensions printed on the rim of a shaft seal.
If you run other tractors from this brand alongside the DX 4.30, you will find them model by model under Deutz-Fahr parts.
