Valtra T 194 parts: sensors, cooling and hitching

When a warning light comes on in a T 194, the culprit is surprisingly often a sensor, a hose or a connector rather than the engine itself. That is where this page starts. Altogether there are more than 50 new replacement parts that fit the Valtra T 194, from GRANIT, Scharmüller, Walterscheid, BOSCH and Wabco.

Sensors and engine management

For the engine electronics there are NOX sensors for the exhaust aftertreatment, rail pressure sensors for the fuel system and temperature sensors. Before you replace a NOX sensor, read the fault code and inspect the plug and wiring. The sensor sits close to the hot exhaust, and a connector damaged by heat or moisture throws exactly the same code as a failed sensor. Put a little high temperature copper grease on the thread of the new one so it will come out again next time.

Cooling and the belt drive

Thermostats and radiator hoses, including the top hose, keep the cooling circuit tight. There are also belt tensioners, seals for the pressure line and a lockable fuel cap, useful for a tractor left at the edge of a field overnight. Spin a tensioner pulley by hand when the belt is off. If it feels rough or has play, replace it along with the belt.

Not sure about the thermostat? Hang the old one in a pan of water on the stove. If it has not opened by the time the water boils, it is finished. Always fit a new thermostat seal, and while you are there, check that the top radiator hose still feels firm at the connection.

Hitching at the rear

  • Drawbars with a ball, including manual versions
  • Pick-Up Hitch parts, screw-in ball adapters and support plates
  • Piton Fix hitches and adapter plates
  • Forced steering inserts for steered trailers

A K80 ball hitch lasts longer if you keep the ball clean and lightly greased. Check it with a caliper now and then. Once it has worn oval, the drawbar gets play and knocks every time you pull away.

The serial plate and the rest of the T range

Before ordering, check that the serial plate really says T 194 and note the chassis number. For sensors and thermostats, the reference number on the old part makes matching easy. The other models in this range each have their own page, handy if a second Valtra works on the same farm: Valtra T 144, Valtra T 154, Valtra T 174, Valtra T 214 and Valtra T 234. Running a different Valtra as well? Every model has its own overview on Valtra parts.
