Valtra 800 parts for the engine include remanufactured turbochargers, exhaust manifold seals at the turbo, valve cover gaskets and seal sets, crankshaft seals and connecting rod bolts. O-rings for the feed pump take care of the fuel side.
A replacement turbo will fail just as quickly if the cause of the first failure is still there. Replace oil feed and return lines that are dirty or dented, change the oil and filter, and prime the turbo with clean oil before the first start. Let the engine idle for a while before putting it under load.
If the indicators suddenly flash twice as fast, a bulb has usually blown. Check every lamp before you blame the flasher unit.
Play in the steering shows on the road as a tractor that wanders. Have someone rock the steering wheel while you watch the front wheels. If a ball joint moves in its housing before the wheel follows, it is worn. Reset the toe-in after fitting a new joint, or the front tyre will wear on one edge. When fitting the steering valve bolt set, tighten the bolts evenly in a cross pattern so the valve seats squarely.
A stiff cab door lock often needs cleaning and a dry lubricant first. Only when the latch no longer catches is a new lock the answer.
The type plate gives the model designation even if the tractor has always been called a Valmet on the farm. For ball joints, check left or right and the taper.
