When the temperature gauge on a Valtra T 203 starts climbing under load, the cooling system is the first place to look. Work through the system in order. A faulty thermostat often sticks half closed. Next, look at the fan clutch: if the cooling fan barely turns when the engine is hot, the clutch is no longer engaging properly. Check the tensioning pulley as well, because a slipping belt slows down both the fan and the water pump. A temperature sensor giving a false reading can also send you in the wrong direction, so verify with a separate measurement if in doubt.
For lighting there are headlights, an LED headlight and work lamps, and for the cab a door lock. An LED unit draws less current and has no filament to break from vibration. On a ball type drawbar, a thin film of grease on the ball is enough to keep wear on ball and coupling down. Wipe off old grease mixed with grit regularly, because that mixture acts like grinding paste.
When you replace the thermostat, take a close look at the radiator hoses too, and renew any hose that has swollen or split at the clip.
