The Valtra 8150, also known as the Valmet 8150, is covered here by more than 170 matching parts, from steering and front axle to electrics and trailer hitches.
Plenty of farmers still call it the Valmet 8150, while later paperwork says Valtra. Either way it is the same tractor from the Mega line, and the Valtra 8150 parts on this page apply to both badges. There are more than 170 of them, from GRANIT, DANA Spicer, Scharmüller, GRAMMER and Walterscheid.
Hours on the clock mean play in the steering and the odd leak. Ball joints in the steering linkage wear and make the tractor wander on the road. Seal kits, individual seals, gaskets and O-rings keep oil and coolant where they belong, for example around the valve cover. The thermostat decides how quickly the engine warms up, and clutch plates and repair kits are here for when the driveline needs work.
Worn ball joints are easiest to find with a helper. Have someone rock the steering wheel back and forth with the engine running while you hold the joint. Play in the steering or a rattle when you turn the wheel usually means the rod end has worn out and needs replacing. Always secure a new joint with a fresh locknut or split pin.
For long days on the 8150 there are air suspended GRAMMER tractor seats. An air seat has its own small compressor and needs a power feed, so check that the cable is present in the cab before you order. You will also find door locks, an alternator, a flasher unit and the stop cable that shuts the engine down. At the rear, ball type drawbars fit, and bolt sets for mounting them are listed too.
A thermostat stuck open shows up as an engine that barely warms up in winter and a cab heater that stays lukewarm. Stuck shut, it sends the temperature gauge climbing instead. If in doubt, test the old one in a pan of water on the stove and watch whether it opens. Always fit a new thermostat with a new gasket and mind which way round it goes, with the small bleed hole at the top.
The type plate tells you whether your tractor was sold under the Valmet or the Valtra name and exactly which model it is. Once the old part is off, look for the reference number on it and match it against the product description. With a seal kit or thermostat that simple check saves a second order.
The Mega line also includes the Valtra 8050, Valtra 8550 and Valtra 8400. Each has a page of its own with the parts known to fit, which helps when there is more than one Valtra in the yard. Running another Valtra-Valmet as well? Take a look at Valtra parts.
